Banana Bread Cruller Donut/Doughnut Recipe

These are such  fun spin on a regular banana bread loaf or the banana chocolate chip donuts that I make.  My favorite thing about these is that its like the ends of the banana bread in every cruller.  You get the golden brown crispy-ness all around!  Next time I make these, I am definitely putting chocolate chips in them, so feel free to do the same!

I use this cruller pan, but it looks like William Sonoma is no longer selling it 😦

Ingredients needed:

  • 1 cup mashed bananas
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup fat free yogurt (plain)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour (I prefer whole wheat)
  • 1+ 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • dash salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. In a stand mixer (or with a hand mixer) mix:
    • 1 cup of mashed bananas
    • 1/2 cup of sugar
    • 1/2 cup of fat free yogurt
  3. To that mixture, mix in:
    • 1/4 cup melted butter
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the existing mixture.  Add:
    • 2 cups of flour
    • 1+1/2 tsp baking powder
    • dash of salt
  5. Fill mixture into a large ziploc bag (see tips and tricks for the easiest way to do this) and fill into greased donut pan.
  6. Bake for 9-10 minutes or until the donuts bounce back when pressed.
  7. Take the donuts out of the oven and play on a cooling rack for a few minutes before putting the glaze on top.
