Baked

Cookies and Cream Donut

These donuts are an awesome play on a classic cookies and cream flavor.  With a fluffy chocolate cake donut, smooth creamy icing, and crunchy crushed up cookies on top, you really can’t go wrong with these bad boys.

Ingredients Needed:

  • 2/3 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 + 3/4 cup of flour (I prefer whole wheat)
  • 1 cup of light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 3 tsp of vanilla
  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar
  • 4 tbsp of milk

Directions

Donuts

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease your donut pan
  2. In a large bowl, mix together:
    • 2/3 cup of cocoa powder
    • 1 + 3/4 cup of flour (I prefer whole wheat)
    • 1 cup of light brown sugar
    • 1 tsp of baking powder
    • 3/4 tsp of salt
  3. In a small bowl, mix together:
    • 2 eggs
    • 3/4 cup of milk
    • 2 tsp of vanilla
    • 2 tsp vinegar
  4. Add 1 stick of melted butter to the DRY ingredients, mix thoroughly
  5. Add wet ingredients to the bowl with the dry ingredients, mix well
  6. Bake 12-15 minutes or until the donut bounces back when touched (should make about 12 donuts)

Icing

  1. Mix together:
    • 2 cups of powdered sugar
    • 4 tbsp of milk
    • 1 tsp of vanilla
  2. Dunk the tops of the donuts in the icing
  3. Add crushed Oreo to the top (for crunch and to look pretty!)

Note: for some of the donuts in the pictures, you can see a chocolate drizzle on top.  For that, I used a cookies and cream cookie butter and melted it and drizzled on top.
